Kieran Trippier reveals what he tells Allan Saint-Maximin "every day" during Sky Sports interview
Speaking after our thrilling clash against Man City, Kieran Trippier was full of praise for man of the match Allan Saint-Maximin, urging the “unbelievable” winger to become “consistent” and "realise the ability he's got."
The Frenchman, who joined the club in 2019, put in a scintillating performance down the left wing where he terrorised Kyle Walker, assisting our first two goals and winning the free-kick for Trippier to put us 3-1 up.
After the enthralling match, Trippier was pictured in the tunnel speaking to Saint-Maximin, lending him some advice for the future and encouraging the 25-year-old to keep up these types of performances.
On his conversation with Saint-Maximin, Trippier said: “He’s the type of player that gets people on the edge of their seat and when he plays like this, like last season against Everton at home, he gives everybody a big boost.”
“I was just saying to him to keep playing like this week in week out. He’s a top quality player and he’s shown today what he’s about and I’m absolutely delighted that he’s my teammate.”
“He’s unbelievable and I say to him every day in training to realise the ability he’s got because he’s such a quality player. He gets us up the pitch and wins us matches. It’s just about him now being consistent.”
Clearly the influence and experience of the England international has had a positive effect on the talented winger and hopefully, going forward, he will continue to take Tripper’s advice on board and improve each week.
With a couple of reinforcements in the final weeks of the window, and with a fully focused Saint-Maximin playing like he did today, who knows what the future might hold for this talented group of players.
