Sky Sports issue surprise update on Joao Pedro as conflicting claims emerge on Watford star

There appears to be some conflicting information out there on Joao Pedro - the Brazilian talent Newcastle are hoping to land before next week's deadline.

After Sky Sports confirmed we'd launched a £17.5m bid for the highly-rated forward last Monday, Fabrizio Romano has since claimed that we've come forward with TWO more offers. The first being £22m plus £3m in add-ons - which was immediately 'rejected' - and the most recent a Saturday night proposal worth £25m plus £5m in add-ons.

Romano claims this latest offer was our third and final bid for the 20-year-old, however Sky Sports seem to have very different information.

According to Keith Downie, we haven't actually launched an official bid for Pedro since our opening offer of £17.5m was rejected last week.

He insists that we're expected to come back in with an improved offer and states there's now 'hope' a deal can be agreed before the summer window shuts next Thursday.

Perhaps the offers Romano refers to are informal and verbal, something Sky Sports may be reluctant to report on, but it at least encouraging to here we're hopeful of eventually getting our man.
