Toon reignite interest in summer target as new bid in excess of £20m is rejected - The Athletic

by Olly Hawkins ·

It looks like Newcastle United are back in for Leeds winger Jack Harrison.

As revealed by The Athletic's David Ornstein, the club launched a second bid - worth in excess of £20m - for the wide man 'last week.'

The bad news is it was rejected by Leeds, who seem determined to keep hold of the hard-working 25-year-old who has started the new season in superb form.

Our opening offer was said to be just shy of £20m earlier this summer, however it was reported at the time that Elland Road chiefs were demanding closer to £35m for Harrison's services.

Fast forward a few months, The Athletic report that Leeds' reluctance to sell hasn't deterred Eddie Howe's interest. Considering their asking price is clearly well above what we're willing to pay, it makes you wonder if we know the player would like to make the move?

The former England U21 international put in another excellent display on Sunday afternoon, delivering a goal and an assist in their impressive 3-0 win over Chelsea.

With one goals and three assists in just three Premier League starts this season, he's a man in form and someone they won't be selling at the £20m mark, meaning we'll have to up our bid considerably if we wish to bring the winger to St James' Park over the final few weeks of the window.
