According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United's interest in Joao Pedro is now 'over' - for this window at least.

Their man in the North-East, Luke Edwards, claims that a fee was never agreed between Newcastle and Watford and that talks 'stalled' on Monday over the Brazilian's proposed move to St James' Park.

Fabrizio Romano had claimed that it was a 'done deal' earlier this week, stating we'd had a bid worth £25m plus £5m in add-ons accepted by the Hornets.

However, it seems he jumped the gun on this one, as Joao Pedro is now expected to remain at Vicarage Road - suggesting we've shelved a move for the 20-year-old talent who was believed to be keen to sign.

With the bulk of our remaining budget seemingly spent on a £58m move for Alexander Isak - the cub's 'top target' in attack - The Telegraph's man on Tyneside reckons we'll now turn to loan deals over the final week of the transfer market after the Real Sociedad striker is officially named a Newcastle United player on Friday.

The club are believed to still be in the market for a right winger and central midfielder, with Chelsea duo Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic both linked.
