Sky Sports: Lucas Paqueta finally set for Premier League move as rivals strike £51m deal with Lyon

After wondering all year if Lucas Paqueta would join his best mate Bruno Guimaraes on Tyneside, it seems the Brazilian is all set for West Ham, NOT Newcastle United.

Following several rounds of talks, Sky Sports reports that the Hammers have now agreed a deal to sign the Lyon playmaker.

The fee is believed to be 'in the region of £51m', with West Ham finally striking an agreement after having two bids rejected for the South American earlier this week.

Newcastle are admirers of Paqueta and had been tipped to make a formal move for the 24-year-old in recent weeks, however it was often said that the midfielder was not deemed a priority target - especially when it would've required big money to reunite him with Bruno.

The Athletic's David Ornstein has also revealed that Paqueta has agreed personal terms with the Irons over a five-year deal, meaning a deal is all set to go through once formalities are sorted over the weekend.

So, it's not to be for Newcastle United and Paqueta, but there'll be no tears shed on Tyneside when we've just smashed our transfer record with the signing of outstanding young striker, Alexander Isak!
