Sky Sports: £30m deal not dead yet and Newcastle handed new Alexander Isak boost

Sky Sports have revealed that Joao Pedro's potential move to Newcastle United is NOT dead just yet - despite thing going "quiet" in recent days.

Elsewhere, Sky have confirmed that the necessary paperwork surrounding Alexander Isak WAS submitted before yesterday's 12pm deadline, meaning our new club record signing is eligible for Sunday's trip to Wolves.

Newcastle are still awaiting international clearance, but it's thought the 22-year-old is in line to make his debut at Molineux - even if that's likely to come from the bench.

Back to Pedro, The Telegraph claimed on Thursday night that we'd dropped our interest in the Brazilian - for this summer at least - as talks with Watford had stalled.

However, Sky's Dharmesh Sheth claims it was only the structure of our add-ons - following a bid worth £30m - that couldn't be agreed on, believing we could resume discussions as Eddie Howe remains eager to bring in more attackers.

Here's what he's had to say about Joao Pedro deal, followed by Pete Graves' positive update on Isak's availability:

"The Isak deal came out of the blue a little bit, and up to that point Newcastle were in discussions with Watford about Joao Pedro.

"Since Isak has signed, the big question has been whether anyone else will come in. Eddie Howe certainly hopes so.

"I'm told it's gone quiet with Joao Pedro, but also that it's not been ruled out. Newcastle's bid was worth £30m, with £25m guaranteed. It was the structure of the add-ons which was still under discussion.

"Now Isak is in, I wonder if Newcastle go back and try to sort out those add-ons? Yes, they do want to bring in players - let's see if one will be Joao Pedro."
