Shock claims arrive from Italy on AC Milan loanee & Newcastle 'ready to accept' loan to buy bid

by Olly Hawkins ·

Some intriguing claims have emerged from Italy regarding a potential move to St James' Park for Tiémoué Bakayoko.

Italian journalist Daniele Longo - who writes for Calciomercato - claims that we are 'advancing' in a move for the 28-year-old midfielder who is currently on Chelsea's books but midway through a two-year loan spell at AC Milan.

Time will tell if there's any truth in this latest rumour, as he's a holding midfielder but older than the options we've been linked with of late and likely to be on big wages. Personally, I'd be shocked if he ended up on Tyneside.

Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United have now reached an agreement 'in principle' to sign Martin Dubravka.

He reckons that Newcastle are now 'ready to accept' a loan bid which includes an option to buy clause of £5m, with Sky Sports also releasing similar information on Monday afternoon.

Romano states that personal terms are already agreed and the deal looks set to go ahead, while Sky reveal that the £5m 'option to buy' will become an obligation if a certain number of appearances are made.

Dubravka took part in training on Tyneside today, however it feels increasingly likely that he'll leave for Old Trafford before Thursday's 11pm deadline.
