New injury blow revealed by local reporter as Howe loses key man for Crystal Palace clash

by Olly Hawkins ·

Allan Saint-Maximin looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

According to The Mail's Craig Hope, the Frenchman suffered a hamstring strain during the final stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Wolves - where his 90th minute wondergoal secured us well deserved point.

As a result, it's believed he will be missing for 'at least 10 days', making next Sunday's trip to West Ham the likely return for the 25-year-old.

After sitting out of tonight's trip to Liverpool, the winger is expected to miss Saturday's clash with Crystal Palace at St James' Park, giving Eddie Howe another fitness headache.

Saint-Maximin joins Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes on the sidelines, although it's hoped the latter could be OK for the weekend after Howe played down the severity of his hamstring complaint.

Nevertheless, injuries are piling up just a few weeks into the season and Saint-Maximin will be a big miss, having been our man of the match in opening two games at St James' Park.

Perhaps this may focus a few minds heading into deadline day, reminding us how badly we need another winger.
