Newcastle prepared to spend big before 11pm tomorrow despite Howe's loan hint - Report
Some intriguing claims have arrived from The Mail's Craig Hope on Newcastle United's transfer plans as we enter the final two days of the summer transfer window.
He was told yesterday that Newcastle are STILL in the market for another marquee signing should the right player become available at the right price.
Hope admits that loans remain more likely - something Eddie Howe alluded to during yesterday's press conference - but states that we could bring forward cash from future budgets if an enticing permanent deal was there to be done before tomorrow's 11pm deadline.
One of those could be Youri Tielemans, with the North-East reporter revealing that he's been on our "list" for some time, despite suggestions earlier this summer that a move to Tyneside was unlikely for the Leicester City star.
This tallies with the information Jacque Talbot revealed in an NUFC Blog exclusive earlier today, with him having this to say on our hunt for a midfielder
“There’s still a feeling Newcastle would spend good money if the right deal came up in midfield.
“They’re very keen on both Amadou Haidara of RB Leipzig and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.
“Leipzig are playing hardball with Haidara, but things could open up with the right offer now Laimer is staying. Newcastle hold a long-term interest here.
“As for Tielemans, he wants to leave. Liverpool are admirers and Arsenal may look to him if they decide to act on injuries to Partey and Elneny. But Newcastle are certainly keen and know this could be their chance now he’s entered the final 12 months of his contract at Leicester.
“Don’t rule out another big signing before the window shuts. They might just have another ace up their sleeve.”
