Howe names late deal NOT on his radar, hints at loan exit and confirms £15m man will now stay

Eddie Howe has ruled out a late move for another right-back following a devastating knee injury to Emil Krafth, believing we have "good quality and cover" in Kieran Trippier and Javier Manquillo.

It had been reported that we could alter our transfer plans in light of Krafth's absence - he's expected to be missing for six to nine months with an ACL injury - but the Newcastle boss seems happy to go with what he's got in that department.

Elsewhere, Howe has hinted that Matty Longstaff could leave on loan before the deadline, saying the forgotten 22-year-old is one of several "younger players" who could depart before the 11pm cut-off.

Jamal Lewis is going nowhere, however. The manager was asked if the former Norwich could go out for some regular game time, but Howe was adamant, saying "no, Jamal will stay" after links with Ligue 1 side Nice.

Here's what Howe had to say on all three as we head into deadline day on Tyneside:

Howe on Emil Krafth:

"It's a huge blow to us, but we aren't looking to bring anyone in, in that position.

"We have Kieran Trippier and Javier Manquillo, so we have good quality and cover in that position."

Howe on Matty Longstaff:

“Matty is one [who could leave before tomorrow's deadline].

"The slightly younger players, there might potentially be some movement with those.”

Howe when asked if Jamal Lewis could be sent out on loan:

"No, Jamal will stay."
