Newcastle contact Juventus over midfield powerhouse and West Ham talent wanted - Report

The Mail's Craig Hope has kicked off deadline day with a transfer update the features a new name for Newcastle United fans.

He reports that calls have been made this week over a potential move for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The Swiss powerhouse joined from Borussia Monchengladbach back in January, but has only started one of Juve's four Serie A games so far this season, although it's thought any move for the 25-year-old may be out of reach at this late stage.

Hope states that we are still pushing for a loan deal, with Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles also looked at, however it seems he is on his way to Southampton.

Elsewhere, it seems we remain keen on West Ham's Harrison Ashby, who was first linked earlier this week.

The 20-year-old right-back is 'still on our radar' ahead of tonight's 11pm deadline, with The Mail reporting that we are in talks with the Hammers over the Scotland U21 star who's out of contract next summer.
