Newcastle fail in late move for £30m man as club reject two fresh approaches - The Telegraph

It looks like Newcastle United have missed their chance to sign Joao Pedro - for now at least.

The Telegraph report that ourselves and Everton have both failed with fresh approaches for the Brazilian talent, with Watford refusing to sell their star man so close to the deadline.

The report reveals that our initial bid of £25m plus £5m in add-ons - which would only be paid if we 'qualify for the Champions League' - was rejected by the Hornets last week.

However, it seems we made another late attempt to bring the 20-year-old to Tyneside but were given 'no encouragement' by Watford, who were previously prepared to sell Joao Pedro had a cash offer of £30m arrived on the table in time for them to sign a replacement.

Instead, they will keep the former Fluminense talent at Vicarage Road in hope he can spearhead their push towards promotion, with them currently fourth in the Championship after his man of the match display helped them to a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
