Deal dead as Newcastle target starts in 8pm kick off - No chance of move before 11pm deadline

Youri Tielemans will NOT be signing at St James' Park before tonight's 11pm deadline.

It was revealed yesterday that we were considering a late move for the Belgian international, who was available for £25m after entering the final 12 months of his contract at the King Power Stadium.

However, the midfielder has been named in Brendan Rodgers' starting 11 for their Premier League clash with Manchester United tonight, confirming he'll be going nowhere.

In reality, it always seemed a long shot. The £25m deal on offer was an appealing one, however it was widely reported that the player's wage demands were 'very high', with Sky Sports revealing that we'd need to smash our current wage structure to lure the former Anderlecht man to St James' Park.

Moving forward, it remains to be seen if we can land a late loan deal before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Chelsea have agreed a shock loan deal for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, so it'll be interesting to see if that allows Conor Gallagher to leave for the remainder of the season?
