Newcastle finally get one over Liverpool as Allan Saint-Maximin beats duo to Premier League award

by Andrew Reynolds ·

Allan Saint-Maximin has beaten Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz for the Premier League goal of the month, with his stunning strike against Wolves securing the award.

In a landslide victory for the Frenchman, 39% of people voted for our last minute equaliser against Wolves, while just 17% voted for Diaz and 11% for Alexander-Arnold who came second and third respectively.

It would be hard to argue against the decision - a very clean strike from Saint-Maximin on the volley and nestling into the bottom right corner far beyond the reach of goalkeeper Jose Sa.

There's also an honourable mention for Kieran Trippier's terrific free-kick against Manchester City which did win 9% of the vote, enough to place him fourth highest on the list.

After just six games in with controversial VAR decisions in almost every match, multiple goal of the months contenders and a six-goal thriller against the champions, it's safe to say we're in for one hell of a season.
