NUFC duo named in team of the month alongside Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea stars

Newcastle stars Joelinton and Kieran Trippier have both been included in August's team of the month for leading stat site Whoscored.com.

The duo have been integral to the way Eddie Howe wants us to play and thoroughly deserve to be praised for their great start to the season, being named alongside Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Reece James and ex-Mag Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Trippier - who boasts an average rating of 7.2 - has been an invaluable asset to the team since he signed back in January, adding great leadership qualities to the squad as well as his vast experience from playing in a Word Cup semi-final to winning La Liga. 

With a rating of 7.5 over August, Joelinton is one who has grown into his relatively new role and become one of the most dominating midfielders in the league, utilising his presence and constant pressuring to help shield the ball and build attacks from the centre of the park.

In three years at the club, the Brazilian has gone from a disappointing striker to a cult hero at the Toon, making himself one of the first names on the team sheet and attracting interest from some of the top clubs. 

Both stars will certainly have a big role to play in wherever this team goes in the future and will surely be remembered for the passion and loyalty that they showed the club when it was at its lowest.
