Wor Flags issue statement as Newcastle United confirm SJP tribute to Her Majesty The Queen

Wor Flags have announced that they will be removing flags all flags for today's clash with Bournemouth at St James' Park.

This comes after the club announced yesterday that a special pre-match tribute will be paid to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II prior to the 3pm kick off at St James' Park.

Details of this tribute can be found below, but Wor Flags have decided not to put on a display of their own ahead of the game, feeling this may have distracted from what Newcastle United have planned.

Supporters can expect the following ahead of kick off (via NUFC.co.uk):

  • Players, managers and match officials will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
  • All of the above will gather at the centre circle before kick-off.
  • A one minute's silence will then take place, followed by the National Anthem, 'God Save The King.'
  • The big screen and LED perimeter boards will display tribute images to Her Majesty.
  • Flags above the East Stand will be flying at half-mast.
  • On the 70 minute mark, fans will be invited to applaud The Queen's 70-year reign.
