Newcastle handed 'good news' as key player looks set to return vs Fulham - Report

by Olly Hawkins ·

According to The Mail, Callum Wilson WILL return to Eddie Howe's squad for our trip to Fulham next weekend.

Craig Hope reports that the club have received 'good news' on our number nine over the international break, believing he will be available for selection a week on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Wilson hasn't featured since scoring in that 3-3 draw with Man City over a month ago, so his return will be a huge boost after a toothless display at St James' Park saw us draw 1-1 with Bournemouth last time out.

It could also be fortunate timing given Alexander Isak has been ruled out of Sweden's upcoming games against Serbia and Slovenia. The Mail insist that the 'exact nature of his injury is not yet known', however he's an early doubt for next weekend's trip to the capital after returning to Tyneside early with a knock.

Here's a snippet from his latest piece, discussing the good and bad news on Wilson and Isak:

'The exact nature of the injury is not yet known. Newcastle will now await the return of Isak to Tyneside before trying to determine the extent of the injury.

'The good news for Eddie Howe is that Callum Wilson will return from a hamstring layoff at Fulham a week on Saturday.'
