NUFC reporter confirms club have joined race for €50m winger 'dreaming' of Premier League move

The Mail's Craig Hope has confirmed that Newcastle United are now tracking Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk ahead of the January transfer window.

The North-East reporter was at Hampden Park last night to watch Scotland take on Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League - a game the hosts won 3-0 courtesy of two Ryan Fraser assists.

Mudryk was in action for the visitors, and Hope claims the highly-rated winger is on our radar heading into the new year, with this coming after a report stated last week that we were plotting a January bid.

The player himself has already revealed that he "dreams about the Premier League" following interest from Arsenal, Everton and Brentford over the summer, but his stock is on the rise following a stunning start to the 2022/23 season, seeing him score twice in Champions League appearances against RB Leipzig and Celtic.

Known for his pace, trickery and quality in front of goal, the 21-year-old is expected to secure a big move this winter, with Fabrizio Romano believing it could now take €50m to prise him away from Shakhtar.

Here's what the 'Ukrainian Neymar' told CBS Sports when asked about a potential move to England in the new year:

"I do dream (of the Premier League). I think every guy dreams about the Premier League.

"Arsenal is a very good team with a very good coach. I like the way they play. Yes it would be hard to say no from my side, I can't say no but the transfer is not only my decision and my word.

"In winter we will see. There was a lot of discussion about the transfer and the collapse (of the deal) and who wants me but it's normal now. I'm in Shakhtar and I want to play in this team.

"I love this team and I love every guy in this team. Shakhtar for me it is now my home but for me it is very important that all my thoughts are about Shakhtar but in the winter (window) we will see."
