Newcastle considering £50m bid for Champions League winger in January - Report

by Olly Hawkins ·

According to Mark Douglas at iNews, Newcastle United are now showing 'serious interest' in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The report states that we are considering a £50m bid for the highly-rated wide man who's being described as the 'Ukrainian Neymar' in his homeland.

A recruitment source has told the i, "it’s an absolute certainty that he will be playing in the Premier League in the next 12 months", and it seems Newcastle United are the latest top flight side plotting a January move for the 21-year-old.

Known for his pace, work-rate, deceptive strength and quality on the ball, Mudryk has been one of the breakout stars in the opening few Champions League group games, scoring against RB Leipzig and Celtic.

The player has already spoken out about his desire to join a Premier League club in January following interest from Arsenal, Brentford and Everton over the summer, although he won't come cheap after making a name for himself on the biggest stage in Europe.

Douglas insists that Newcastle are one of few top flight sides who are capable of striking a big money deal for the Ukrainian - who will take on Ryan Fraser's Scotland in the Nations League tonight - with one source saying this to iNews about the exciting winger:

“He is tailor-made for English football and every club knows it. He ticks every box technically and his age and relative inexperience mean he’s only going to get better.

"He’s a long way off being the finished article but he’s got all the attributes. He’s undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects in European football right now.”
