Newcastle in talks to sign the ‘Brazilian Busquets’ ahead of Barcelona - Report

by Andrew Reynolds ·

As reported by Mark Douglas at iNews, Newcastle have ‘held talks’ for Vasco da Gama wonderkid Andrey Santos who has already been nicknamed the 'Brazilian Busquets.'

The £30m-rated 18-year-old has attracted interest from Barcelona themselves, with fellow European giants Real Madrid also linked, however it seems Newcastle are trying to steal a march on potential competition by initiating talks.

Santos has heavily impressed in his 33 appearances for the Serie B side, earning a call up to the Brazil Under-20 team, and is a big target for our new owners as they prepare for long-term success on Tyneside.

Following the arrival of Dan Ashworth as Sporting Director - who has been known to scout young South American talents for Brighton such as Moises Caicedo - Douglas reports that Newcastle are expected to invest heavily in the Brazilian market.

Despite the fantasy rumours of the likes of Messi and Ronaldo playing in black and white a year ago, these types of signings are ones our hierarchy believe will bring domestic and European success to Newcastle over the next decade and beyond.
