Dan Burn reveals secret behind Miguel Almiron form & claims VAR made mistake in 5-1 win vs Brentford

Speaking live on talkSPORT, Toon defender Dan Burn has been discussing all things Newcastle United following Saturday's 5-1 win over Brentford.

Asked about Miguel Almiron, he revealed that it's a "big confidence thing" with the Paraguayan international, who's enjoying his best run in front of goal at Premier League level after three goals in his last two games.

Burn claims that our “unplayable” top scorer is benefiting from the amount of "belief" Eddie Howe has put in him, feeling that show of faith has provided the 28-year-old with a sense of confidence on the pitch he didn’t have previously.

The 6ft 7' Geordie has also bemoaned the handball incident that gifted Brentford a penalty on Saturday, feeling there was nothing he could've done - while jumping - to avoid the ball hitting his arm.

Last but certainly not least, the big man has also praised Bruno Guimaraes, describing the Brazilian as a ”world class” footballer.

“It’s a big confidence thing, especially with players like Miggy, who maybe wasn’t playing as well at the start of his career.

“But I think it’s that confidence and knowing that the manager has that belief in you to do the things he’s doing.

"I think he’s unplayable sometimes.”

“Bruno [Guimaraes] is one of those rare players who has got that class where you can give them the ball anywhere and the way he moves his body and moves the ball and stuff.

“He’s really world-class.”
