New appointment now made public as Newcastle United bring in former Arsenal chief - Report

by Andrew Reynolds · 12 October 2022, 17:07

As reported by The Mail's Craig Hope, Newcastle United are set to confirm the arrival of Peter Silverstone, formerly of Arsenal, as our new chief commercial officer as the club look to increase revenue in light of FFP restrictions.

Silverstone spent seven years with the Gunners where he worked as a chief commercial officer and as business development director, so he is used to working at the highest level in football.

The hope is that his experience and knowledge will help the club to grow our commercial income and allow us to compete financially with some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Due to our current commercial revenue being so low, FFP restricts how much we are able to spend and, after investing over £200m into the squad since January, there is a limit to what we can spend in the future.

Silverstone joins Dan Ashworth and Darren Eales at the club as our new owners continue their pursuit of experienced backroom staff to develop Newcastle into one of the most exciting projects in the country.
