Andy Carroll aims brutal dig at Steve Bruce after West Brom sacking

Andy Carroll has sent a damning message to recently sacked West Brom manager Steve Bruce, believing his Reading side have missed out on a "guaranteed three points at the weekend" now he's been dismissed.

The two were set to have a reunion this weekend as West Brom take on Reading in the Championship, but the former Toon striker's comments suggest he isn't a big fan of the ex-NUFC boss!

Asked about Bruce's sacking, Carroll delivered this brutal line: "It’s always sad, you know, to see people get the sack. Especially when we were guaranteed three points at the weekend.”

Carroll and Bruce spent two years together at Newcastle and around four months at West Brom earlier this year, however you wonder what their relationship was really like based on these latest comments.

West Brom's form had been on a downward trajectory ever since Bruce joined - eight wins in 32 - and after picking the Baggies up in fifth, the 61-year-old departed with the club left in 22nd in the league.

While it will come as no surprise to any fan that Bruce was not well liked by his players, it will certainly feel good to be vindicated after the media were quick to criticise supporters for their supposed harsh treatment of the manager.
