Dan Ashworth eyeing move for Brighton star but faces competition from Chelsea - Report

According to new reports, Newcastle United are showing interest in Brighton's Leandro Trossard.

This comes from 90min reporter Graeme Bailey, who claims that Dan Ashworth is following the player's situation closely as he edges towards the final year of his contract at The Amex.

Ashworth - the former director of football at Brighton - helped oversee Trossard's move to the Premier League back in 2019, where he completed a £14m move from Genk.

However, it seems we aren't the only club eyeing the Belgian international, with 90min stating that former boss Graham Potter is keen to be reunited with the 27-year-old at Chelsea.

A lot may depend on how contract talks go between the player and his current club, but this could be one to watch in the new year as we continue our search for a new winger - or it could be the media putting two and two together and making five? Who knows.

Either way, it could make plenty of sense should he fail to sign a new deal, with him starting the season superbly with five goals and two assists in Brighton's opening nine games.
