NUFC star declares himself fit to face Everton as Howe is handed welcome injury boost

Fabian Schar has confirmed he is "going to be fine" for Wednesday's clash with Everton after being forced off in yesterday's 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

The Swiss centre-back was replaced by Jamaal Lascelles in the final few minutes of Sunday's clash with Man Utd after signalling to the bench that he was unable to continue.

Some feared we'd picked up yet another injury issue, however the defender has since confirmed that he was simply exhausted and suffering with cramp - which is good news given how well he performed alongside Sven Botman.

The pair helped us to our fourth clean sheet of the season and were arguably our two best players on the day, with no Premier League team conceding less goals than Newcastle (9) so far this term.

Speaking about his withdrawal at Old Trafford, here's what Schar had to say:

'Yeah, it’s going to be fine. Don’t worry.

"I obviously didn’t want to come off but at the point when you can’t really walk anymore, you probably have to say it’s better if someone else who’s 100 per cent comes in.

"But it’s going to be fine."

With Allan Saint-Maximin suffering a setback and Alexander Isak now expected to be out until AFTER the World Cup, it's a relief to hear we haven't been handed another injury headache here.
