NUFC duo set for suspension if they are booked in any of the next eight Premier League games

During our 1-0 victory over Everton, both Joelinton and Fabian Schar picked up yellow cards, taking their tally to four for the season and one away from a one-game suspension.

Under Premier League rules, if a player picks up five yellow cards during the first 19 games of the season they will have to serve a one-game ban - so with eight games left it seems likely they will miss a game between now and the halfway point.

Both yellows were somewhat avoidable - Joelinton’s was for a late challenge as Everton countered while Schar picked his up for a shove on Anthony Gordon who had already pushed Toon teammate Kieran Trippier.

Should either pick up another yellow during today’s clash with Spurs, they will be unavailable for our next home game against Aston Villa.

Joelinton may even be rested for our trip to the capital after being brought off at half-time for Joe Willock due to a slight ‘knock’ to his knee according to Eddie Howe.

If nothing else, the number of cards shows the fight and intensity that is running throughout the whole squad as we’ve grown into this winning mentality that has been missing for over a decade.
