Premier League form table for 2022 - Newcastle's European ambitions well within reach?

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United currently sit fifth in the 2022 form table after just one home defeat in the entire calendar year, boasting the best defence beyond Man City and Liverpool.

In 31 games we have amassed a total of 59 points, just three shy of Arsenal in fourth and five shy of Tottenham in third, and have been beaten just six times in that period - five of which came against the traditional ‘big six’.

While our spending of £200m in the last two windows often gets gets mentioned as the key reason behind our form, it’s worth remembering that £63m of that was on Isak - who has played very little - while we have also struggled with numerous injuries to Saint-Maximin, Guimaraes, Trippier, Wilson and Shelvey.

Here's the 2022 form table in full:

After spending the last ten years outside of Europe, Newcastle’s next campaign across the continent could well be right around the corner if we keep this form up that currently has us sitting in fourth place.

Should we maintain this incredibly high standard into the break for the World Cup, we could make a serious charge for at least the top six if we choose to invest even further in the squad in the January window.
