Spanish media claim Newcastle's forgotten man could seal January move to La Liga
According to reports in Spain, Javier Manquillo could be on his way out of Newcastle United in January.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that La Liga side Cadiz are showing interest in the 28-year-old, seeing the defender as the ‘most likely option’ in their pursuit of a new right-back.
The report adds that Manquillo 'wants to play' and is therefore open to a January exit after falling down the pecking order at St James' Park.
Kieran Trippier is now our first choice right-back, with Emil Krafth next in line after showing real signs of improvement under Eddie Howe. However, the Swede is currently injured with ACL damage and won't be back anytime soon, so it remains to be seen if we'd sanctioned a move away for Manquillo.
That said, Manquillo barely featured over pre-season and hasn't played a single minute of football all season, meaning a winter move could make sense for all parties.
One to watch in the new year, especially if we reignite our interest in West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby.
