"He'd fit in perfectly" - Gabby Agbonlahor backs NUFC to sign Premier League winger in January

Gabby Agbonlahor believes Brighton winger Leandro Trossard would ‘fit in perfectly’ at Newcastle as we look to bolster our squad in the January window. 

The talkSPORT pundit was full of praise for the Belgian winger who has registered six goals and two assists in 11 Premier League appearances this season. 

Trossard has been linked with a potential move to St James' Park over the past week as he enters the final year of his contract - although Brighton do have an option to extend that for a further 12 months. 

With Newcastle currently sitting in fourth place in the league, Agbonlahor feels the 27-year-old would be a perfect option to back-up the injured Allan Saint-Maximin and would ‘help them push into the top-four’.

With not long left on his contract, a deal for the Brighton man may be ideal as we look to seek out cut-price deals in order to comply with FFP restrictions.

On Trossard, Agbonlahor: “I think Trossard would fit in nicely on that left wing. Saint-Maximin is a very good player but he’s injured a lot. Joelinton played there at the weekend. He plays for Belgium as well, his national team, which is a talented team.

“I think he would fit in perfectly there. If I was Newcastle, I’d look to get that done in January. When you are fighting for top-four, you need two players in each position, fighting for each position.

“You know Brighton are a selling club, so if you pay the right money for him, they would sell. He’d fit in perfectly into that team and is the sort of player who would help them push into the top-four.”
