Newcastle scouts spotted watching French midfielder ahead of January window - Report
According to new reports, Newcastle are one of several clubs keeping a close eye on Lorient star Enzo Le Fee.
This comes from 90min, who claim that ourselves, Leicester, West Ham and Fulham have all had scouts watching the highly-rated midfielder in France this season.
It's believed that Leicester see him as a long-term replacement for Youri Tielemans - a player we looked to sign over the summer - but it seems Newcastle are also showing interest in the 22-year-old talent who is approaching the final 18 months of his contract.
Le Fee has been the driving force behind Lorient's surprise surge into the top four, with him leading the way in Ligue 1 for ground duels won, as well as ranking third for key passes and fifth for successful dribbles, suggesting he's a bit of an all-rounder.
He was part of France's Olympics squad last summer and has three goals in seven appearances at U21 level.
Lorient are ready to open talks over a new deal and improved terms, but it's thought the midfielder could move on to bigger things in 2023, with scouts from Real Sociedad, Lazio and Borussia Dortmund also scouting the Frenchman.
