Simon Jordan admits £1000 Newcastle bet now on 'shaky grounds' and tips Toon for 'revolution'

Speaking on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan admitted that his bet for £1000 with Jim White that Newcastle would not make the top six is looking 'shaky', believing the club will 'start a revolution' with a European finish.

Jordan had previously been unconvinced by this Newcastle side, stating it lacked quality and strength in depth to compete with the 'big six.'

However, the 55-year-old is now regretting his decision, believing that the Magpies have 'everything going in the right direction' and are 'becoming an unstoppable force'.

With just one defeat in our opening 13 games, Newcastle will enter the World Cup break in the top four should we win our final two fixtures against Southampton and Chelsea.

On his bet and our potential to kick on, Jordan said: "If Newcastle do it, and get into Europe in their first season, they will start a revolution. There's this argument that they can't do it, this argument that they've got ceilings - Graeme [Souness] is probably right, they've only bought a football club for £350 million.

"Todd Boehly has just gone and bought Chelsea for £2.5 billion, these lot have bought one for £350 million, got it for cheap so they'll go after it. Look, I think my bet is shaky.

"I think that with the way this Premier League season is panning out, unless some certain teams start to buck their ideas up, I'm going to be ponying up £1000.

"I do think my bet is on shaky grounds right now but I didn't legislate for Liverpool to be as poor as they are. I don't legislate for some of the teams I thought would be competing up the league not doing so well but it's so early in the season.

"They've still got a break to overcome after the World Cup, we don't know what that's going to look like but right now, Newcastle have got more right than they have wrong.

"Right now what they've got is everything going in the right direction, they've got huge momentum and they're becoming an unstoppable force - it'll be interesting to see what the immovable object is, whether it's Manchester City or the top four being difficult to break into.

"But right now, everything is in the right direction."

For someone who has often criticised Newcastle and their supporters, it shows what a strong start we've made that even he is U-turning on his pre-season comments!
