8 changes as Howe hands starts to Saint-Maximin, Shelvey and Lascelles vs Crystal Palace
The team sheets are out ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash at St James’ Park, where Eddie Howe has made changes to the side who beat Southampton 4-1 on Sunday.
Here’s the starting XI he’s selected to take on Crystal Palace:
(4-3-3): Pope - Manquillo, Lascelles, Burn, Targett - Shelvey, Longstaff, Joelinton - Anderson, Saint-Maximin, Wood.
SUBS: Karius, Trippier, Botman, Schar, Lewis, Murphy, Almiron, Willock, Guimaraes.
Allan Saint-Maximin starts for the first time since August, with Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood joining the Frenchman in attack.
Jonjo Shelvey also starts his first of the season alongside Sean Longstaff and Joelinton in midfield, while Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Targett come in at the back.
So, eight changes all in all, seeing the likes of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock, Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy start on the bench.
There's no Callum Wilson in the squad, with Ryan Fraser also missing out along with Karl Darlow; seeing Lorius Karius make the bench instead.
For Palace, the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Ebere Eze aren't in the squad, with Patrick Vieira also rotating heavily following their win over West Ham on Sunday.
