Newcastle drop triple selection hint on Twitter - These players now set to start vs Crystal Palace?

Newcastle United have dropped an early selection hint ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace at St James' Park.

In a 'HOWAY THE LADS' post previewing the game on Twitter, the club have included pictures of Chris Wood, Elliot Anderson and Matt Targett.

It may mean nothing, but with Eddie Howe tipped to rotate and hand starts to those who've struggled for game time in recent weeks, it would make a lot of sense if all three featured from the off.

Wood looks set to come in for Wilson - who is still a "little run down" after suffering with illness last week - Elliot Anderson started in our second round win over Tranmere and Matt Targett recently lost his place at left-back to Dan Burn, meaning he's another who will be desperate to impress.

Predicted NUFC XI (4-3-3): Pope – Trippier, Lascelles, Burn, Targett – Shelvey, Joelinton, Anderson – Fraser, Wood, Saint-Maximin.
