Two more Mags receive World Cup call ups - Three to follow and duo in with outside chance?

by Olly Hawkins ·

Fabian Schar and new recruit Garang Kuol have both been called up by their country for the World Cup in Qatar.

After Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes was the first Newcastle United player to be handed the good news on Monday, we've now seen Switzerland and Australia include the Toon duo in their 26-man squads.

Schar has racked up over 70 appearances for a Swiss side set to face Brazil, Serbia and Cameroon in Group G, while Kuol - who is yet to start a game in senior football - is a wildcard pick for the Aussies in a group featuring France, Denmark and Tunisia.

Next up, we'll find out at 2pm tomorrow if Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson and Dan Burn have made Gareth Southgate's England squad, with a decision on Sven Botman set to arrive on Friday when the Netherlands release their official 26.

As things stand, Pope and Trippier are guaranteed a place, Wilson is in with a very real chance and Burn and Botman are both deemed outside bets, despite making the provisional 55-man longlists.
