Allan Saint-Maximin's telling response when asked about his future on Tyneside

Allan Saint-Maximin has issued a clear message on his future at Newcastle United, insisting Tyneside is now his ‘home’.

Speaking to the press from Saudi Arabia, the Frenchman has talked about the club’s ‘huge’ potential, feeling proud of our progress – on and off the pitch – after overseeing some tough times following his arrival from Nice in 2019.

The winger suggests he’s had the opportunity to go elsewhere, but has always said no due to his belief in the project at St James’ Park and eagerness to give back to the club he loves ‘so much’.

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for the 25-year-old – he’s not started since August due to a hamstring injury – but he’s averaging a goal or assist every 90 mins, remaining our joint top creator despite playing less than 400 minutes of Premier League football so far.

Here’s what he had to say when discussing his current situation at Newcastle:

“It’s very nice, it’s like finding your first house. It’s when you have found a very nice house and you know what you are going to build.

“You start to see the potential there and you are like ‘wow – this is huge’. That’s a great example, because I really feel at home here.

“This is a different place now. There are a lot of beautiful houses in the world now, but there are some houses where you put your feet and think ‘here’s my home’.

“It’s the feeling I have in Newcastle. I’m very proud, because sometimes when you start, everything isn’t perfect.

“When you work very hard, you start to see everything change, especially when you have the choice to go to another club. You just say ‘no, I’ll believe until the end at this club’.

“I want to give back the love they give me. You think ‘it’s great – anything can happen now’. I’ll always be a Newcastle fan, I love the club so much.”
