Darren Eales' video message to Newcastle United fans as club announce brilliant new campaign
Chief Executive Officer Darren Eales has released a brilliant video message to Newcastle fans after the club announced the Helping Hand at Christmas campaign - which featured a incredible £150,000 donation to Newcastle West End Foodbank.
Newcastle United and Newcastle United Foundation have announced a campaign to ‘provide community support across Tyneside’ during the Christmas period with a financial donation to the foodbank as well as specialist staff to support operations.
Speaking in an interview for NUFC TV, Eales made it clear that it was ‘vital’ that the club took initiative to support ‘one of the most economically deprived regions in the country’ during the current cost of living crisis.
The 50-year-old went on to explain why the support for the foodbank is so crucial, stating that because of the winter World Cup, they can’t rely on the generosity of fans attending home games to generate funds and help them produce around 2,000 meals per month.
Eales added that this was ‘something that came from our employees’, highlighting the togetherness within the club that is expanding into the entire city.
