Napoli chief responds to NUFC's interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after 'top target' claims

Following recent links with Newcastle United, Napoli's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli insists there is "no chance" to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be leaving the Italian giants.

Last week, The Times' Martin Hardy revealed that the highly-rated winger had been named our new 'top target' ahead of the next two transfer windows in 2023.

That report stated that 'around £50m' may be enough to land the Georgian star, but Napoli's director is having none of it, claiming he'll remain with the Serie A side, no matter how much is offered their way.

Speaking to Sport Express, here's what Giuntoli had to say in response to our interest:

“Newcastle interest in Khvicha?

"There is no chance that we’ll let him go, despite the amount of the offer.”

With Napoli eight points clear at the top of Serie A, flying through the Champions League group stages and known to be tough negotiators, this will be an incredibly tough deal for Dan Ashworth and Co to pull off.

Kvaratskhelia is also contracted to the club until 2027, is only 21-years-old and is believed to be one of the most exciting wingers in Europe after eight goals and 10 assists already this season.
