Newcastle United star beats Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City players to 2022 prize
Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been crowned Fans’ Footballer of the Year by The Mirror after over 60,000 fans voted over the course of a month, putting an end to Mohammed Salah’s two-year reign.
The Brazilian has been nothing short of sensational since signing for the Magpies back in January, delivering a host of all-action displays as well as11 goal involvements (eight goals, three assists) in 31 appearances.
Bruno has beaten the likes of Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Heung-min Son and James Maddison to the title, with this a well-deserved reward for the South American after a frustrating ew weeks at the World Cup.
Kieran Trippier also featured on the list - the England international finished 11th after barely putting a foot wrong at both ends of the pitch over the past 12 months. Both he and Guimaraes have enjoyed outstanding years on Tyneside, playing an integral role in our rise from relegation candidates to top four hopefuls!
