Bruno, Wilson, Botman and Pope all start as Howe names strong side vs Bournemouth

by Olly Hawkins ·

The teams sheets are out ahead of tonight’s 7.45pm kick off at St James’ Park, which sees us take on Bournemouth in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Without further ado, here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with against his former club:

STARTING XI: Pope - Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn - Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock - Almiron, Wilson, Joelinton.

SUBS: Darlow, Lascelles, Targett, Manquillo, Shelvey, Ritchie, Saint-Maximin, Murphy, Wood.

Howe has named a strong side, seeing World Cup representatives Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, Fabian Schar and Nick Pope ALL start.

Sven Botman also features at the back, with Dan Burn in down the left, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff in midfield and Miguel Almiron an Joelinton either side of Wilson in attack.

Allan Saint-Maximin is only fit enough for the bench, but it's good to see the Frenchman involved after he picked up a 'slight injury' in Saturday's friendly win over Rayo Vallecano.

As expected, Alexander Isak is not involved in the matchday squad, with recent reports suggesting the Swede may not return until the New Year as he edges back from a long-term thigh injury.

Bournemouth XI: Travers - Smith, Mepham, Senesi, Zemura - Anthony, Cook, Billing - Christie, Moore, Solanke.
