NUFC star set to miss Bournemouth, Leicester & Leeds games after sitting out SJP friendly - Report

by Andrew Reynolds ·

According to The Mail's Craig Hope, it's thought Alexander Isak may not return to first-team action until after the turn of the year as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

As a result, the Swede looks set to miss our Carabao Cup tie against Bournemouth, along with league games against Leicester on Boxing Day and Leeds on New Years Eve.

After signing for a club-record fee of around £60m, the 23-year-old showed flashes of brilliance after scoring twice in his first three games, including an excellent finish against Liverpool on his debut.

Eddie Howe insists that Isak has NOT suffered any injury setback after failing to feature in recent friendlies against Al-Hilal and Rayo Vallecano, it just seems the club are taking a cautious approach to his comeback given he did suffer a reoccurrence of the injury in October.

Thankfully, Callum Wilson is 'fine' and has been passed fit to face former club Bournemouth later on tonight - although it remains to be seen if he or Chris Wood will start.

That is a relief given Isak's situation, but we'll have to hope our club record signing can get back up to speed in the New Year, with us set to face a flurry of fixtures in the league and cup.
