Embarrassing from Arsenal as player posts video on Twitter after Arteta rants at Toon draw

by Olly Hawkins ·

According to Mikel Arteta, it was "scandalous" that Arsenal weren't awarded TWO penalties in last night's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United.

After winning their last 10 Premier League games at the Emirates, the Spaniard threw his toys out of the pram as they struggled to break us down in the closing stages, squaring up to Eddie Howe after screaming at officials for a Jacob Murphy handball.

VAR waved it away - it was never a penalty based on the distance between the player and cross and position of his hand - but the post-match complaints didn't stop with Arteta.

Not only have Gunners fans accused us of 'anti-football' on social media, slating our physical approach, fouls and time-wasting, star centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes has posted a video of the other penalty shout Arteta was referring to.

The clip shows the Brazilian going down under a challenge from Dan Burn yet comes from a free kick that should never have been awarded, as replays show Joelinton clearly got a toe on the ball ahead of Saka. Was it a penalty? I've seen them given, but to moan about this decision is rather ironic when Gabriel was guilty of hauling Burn down in the first half.

Nevertheless, here's Gabriel and Arteta's laughable reactions on a night where Arsenal were well and truly frustrated by Eddie Howe's Mags:

The only thing "scandalous" about last night's game was Mikel Arteta's behaviour on the touchline.
