Sky Sports reveal when Bruno Guimaraes could return to action after worst fears are eased

by Olly Hawkins ·

Sky Sports have issued a fresh update on Bruno Guimaraes injury situation after it emerged last night that the Brazilian would be missing for 'weeks, not months' with an ankle injury.

Keith Downie has revealed that the Brazilian actually 'has a chance' of being back in time for our semi-final first leg at Southampton a week today, although the 25-year-old is likely to sit out Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

Scans on Monday confirmed that the midfielder has NOT torn any ligaments in his ankle, meaning all of our worst fears have been eased after the former Lyon star left the field in tears during Sunday's 1-0 win over Fulham.

Sky Sports report that he'll be assessed on a daily basis this week and remains in with a very real shout of starting our first semi-final in 18 years at St Mary's

With Jonjo Shelvey already out and fans aware of the impact Bruno has both on and off the ball, it would've been a huge blow to lose him for both legs, as well as upcoming Premier League games against Crystal Palace, West Ham, Bournemouth and Liverpool over the coming month.

However, it seems he will miss out on Saturday, have a chance of returning next week and, if not, will almost certainly feature in the second leg at St James' Park.
