Toon hold talks with agent of South American CB as player plots Premier League move - Report
According to Football Insider, Newcastle met with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie on Monday to discuss a possible move to St James' Park.
The report claims that Everton are also sounding out a move for the Ecuador international, with both clubs meeting with the player's entourage in London yesterday.
It's thought the German side are reluctant to sell the highly-rated 21-year-old and would demand in excess of £25m for his signature - although the player himself has already made it known he's 'keen' to test himself in the Premier League.
It is unlikely that a move will materialise in the January window, with the club prioritising other moves this month and balancing FFP limitations, so any potential deal would be in the summer should this latest transfer rumour prove to be true.
Hincapie, who is contracted until 2026, typically plays as a central defender but can also fill in at left-back and is regarded as one of the top young players in his position around Europe.
The Ecuadorian has played 18 games across the Bundesliga and Champions League this season and featured in all of his country's group games at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
