Howe told to pursue "perfect" signing as talkSPORT pundit names player Toon fans would love

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ally McCoist has urged Eddie Howe pursue Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher as we continue our hunt for a new midfielder. 

The popular TV pundit believes Gallagher would be the ‘perfect’ signing for Newcastle as he is ‘young', 'hungry', would suit our intense style of play and become someone fans would 'really take to' on Tyneside.

Despite his struggling form for Chelsea, the 22-year-old bagged eight goals and five assists during a recent loan spell at Crystal Palace and offers the sort of intensity that could work well in our high pressing system. 

He's made 17 appearances in the Premier League this season - just eight of those in the starting 11 - and has only registered one goal and one assist so far.

But at Newcastle, the England International could have a new lease of life and begin to recapture his impressive form from the 2021/22 season, particularly when being coached by Eddie Howe.
