Newcastle plan THREE late signings with Everton star back on radar after meeting - The Telegraph

An intriguing piece on the transfer front has landed from The Telegraph's Luke Edwards this afternoon.

He reports that Newcastle could be set for a busy end to the January transfer window, with a recruitment meeting on Wednesday indicating that THREE new faces could still arrive between now and January 31st.

Should we move on a couple of squad players - Chris Wood and Ryan Fraser are both attracting Premier League interest - it seems we could be set for an active end to the month.

The Telegraph state that a winger is now being actively pursued alongside a midfielder, with the club also intent on signing a right-back able to learn from and cover for Kieran Trippier.

Edwards adds that Everton's Anthony Gordon is 'back on Newcastle's radar' after we tried and failed to land the England U21 star over the summer, while Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech is deemed the 'most gettable' option at Chelsea after we also enquired about Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

It's thought Eddie Howe remains keen on recruiting Premier League proven players who are "battle ready", feeling foreign imports are often more suited to summer moves - giving them more time to bed into their new surroundings and adapt to English football.
