Gordon slated by former Premier League owner during one-sided rant at ex-Everton star - Video
TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan hasn't held back on Anthony Gordon's January move from Everton to Newcastle, likening him to a ‘rat deserting a sinking ship’.
The winger completed a £40m move to St James' Park on Sunday after supposedly refusing to show up to training for three consecutive days, sparking controversy over his loyalty to his boyhood club.
On the show, the former Palace owner claimed he ‘hopes he gets what he deserves’ for leaving a club who ‘gave him an opportunity’, ignoring that the fans of that very club had chased his car down a road to confront him after a defeat.
It is also particularly harsh to criticise a player when you don’t know the full story - it was in Everton’s best interests to sell and they could well have told the 21-year-old to miss training to ensure a sale.
You can hardly blame someone for wanting to escape a toxic environment, especially when an opportunity to play for a European-challenging team presents itself, so this seems a strange argument from Jordan.
