Toon eyeing two bargain deals as soon-to-be free agents are linked with summer moves to SJP
According to reports, Newcastle United are showing interest in Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram and Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada.
Both players have entered the final few months of their contract, allowing them to leave on a free transfer this summer if they don't sign new deals at their current clubs.
Starting with Thuram, Spanish outlet Sport claim we are rivalling Barcelona's interest in the versatile Frenchman, who can operate up top or out wide.
He was heavily linked with a move to St James' Park over the summer but ended up remaining with the Bundesliga side. However, with the 25-year-old now set to leave on a 'free' at the end of the season, it's believed Newcastle, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all preparing offers following 17 goal contributions in 21 games this term.
As for Kamada, CaughtOffside report that we are 'leading the race' to sign the Japanese international ahead of top four rivals Liverpool.
Like Thuram, he's enjoyed an impressive season in the Bundesliga - bagging 13 goals and five assists in all competitions - with three of those coming in six Champions League outings.
The 26-year-old is another versatile player, being able to operate in the middle, as a number 10 or on the left - something that could appeal to Eddie Howe as we look to add quality while keeping within FFP limitations this summer.
