Bruno Guimaraes' future unclear despite imminent new deal at Newcastle - The Telegraph

The Telegraph's Luke Edwards has released an in-depth piece on Bruno Guimaraes' future at Newcastle United, revealing some good and (potentially) bad news on the Brazilian.

Starting with the positive news, it's believed the midfielder is 'on the verge' of signing a new and improved long-term contract at St James' Park to make him the club's highest earner.

However, the same piece reveals that Chelsea, Man City, Real Madrid and PSG are all big admirers of the former Lyon star, with the free-spending Blues expected to up their interest this summer after a January inquiry was immediately shut down.

As he revealed at an awards dinner in Durham last week, Bruno is loving life on Tyneside, eager to stay for many years and write his name in Newcastle history, but The Telegraph insist that the player is determined to play Champions League football and become a regular in Brazil's first-team.

Despite serious interest from a series of European giants, the report insists that Bruno won't be going anywhere in 2023, with one 'senior source' stating that we'd even reject "silly money" this summer.

Problem are anticipated if we fail to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the 2023/24 season, however. Bruno is not expected to push for a move, as he and his family are 'extremely happy' in Newcastle and blown away by the love received from fans, but he has huge ambitions and is expected to earn the club in excess of £100m should we eventually cash in.

The smiling South American is clearly desperate for his dreams to come true in a black and white shirt, but we can only expect him to stay for so long if his development as a player outpaces ours as a club?

Either way, here's to at least another 18 months of Bruno Guimaraes and hopefully securing a top four finish; something that may be essential in the coming seasons if we're to keep our star man at SJP.
