New face spotted in Toon training, £45m man absent and Howe handed Wolves boost

by Olly Hawkins ·

Newcastle United have released photos of the senior squad in training ahead of Sunday's crucial clash with Wolves at St James' Park.

The good news is that Fabian Schar is back in action after concussion kept him out of last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Man City, while a new face has also been spotted within the first-team set up in James Huntley.

Pictures released on NUFC.co.uk show the 19-year-old midfielder winning a training game alongside the likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, Callum Wilson and Matt Targett (see below), with his call-up suggesting he's impressed Eddie Howe at Under-21 level.

Elsewhere, we've noticed that new signing Anthony Gordon doesn't feature in any of the 44 images from Wednesday's session. Hopefully his possible absence is nothing to worry about and not injury related ahead of Sunday's game.

Joelinton won't feature this weekend as he starts a two-game ban after picking up his 10th yellow of the season at Man City, meaning Joe Willock looks set to come back into Howe's XI after shaking off a hamstring injury.

In attack, it'll be interesting to see if Howe keeps faith in Wilson or puts his faith in £60m man Alexander Isak, while Allan Saint-Maximin will also be eyeing a recall.
