Proof PL officials messed up as former referee explains howler at Nottingham Forest - Video

Speaking on Sky Sports, former referee Dermot Gallagher couldn’t understand why Elliot Anderson’s goal against Nottingham Forest was ruled out for offside on Friday night.

The incident nearly cost Newcastle the three points and if it wasn’t for Moussa Niakhate’s blatant handball, the Magpies would have left the City ground bitterly disappointed and furious with VAR.

The goal was ruled out because VAR deemed the two ‘clearances’ from Forest’s defenders to be ‘deflections’ instead, despite both players quite clearly deliberately trying to clear the ball before it hit off Sean Longstaff.

Even Gallagher believes that Felipe ‘clearly goes to kick the ball out’ and that the goal ‘ticks all the boxean for the criteria needed for it to stand, leaving everyone wondering why VAR even got involved in the first place.
